The vision for Bulwell needs to be made by us, the Bulwell Community. Partners for political, financial, and intellectual backing are crucial to getting a public space improvement project off the ground. These partners can range from individuals, to private businesses, to the city council, to local charities, to schools.
But above all, the vision for Bulwell need to be driven by Bulwell – us who live, work and play to make this town our home.

Bulwell Today: The Good and the Bad
From community feedback so far, we’ve found some clear cut goods and bads about Buwell:
The Good
- Quantity of green spaces and trees
- Organisations with good reputations
- Diverse Community
- Great transport links
- Lots of passion about Bulwell
- Rich history and heritage
- Bulwell Market – range of goods and potential for developing further
- Inspirational local people – businesspeople, community activists, national celebrities, sports people
- Young people – care about place
The Bad
- Littering and flytipping (disrespect for Bulwell)
- Anti-social behaviour (not just youth)
- Low aspirations or lack of aspiration
- Bad reputation
- Closure of community centres and primary schools
- Lack of pride
- Loud bigotry (racism, homophobia etc) leading to people feeling unsafe
- Backward looking to how things were rather than forward looking (safety in the past)
We need to build on the good, and fix the bad.

We’re looking to define what we, the community, want Bulwell to be in 5, 10 and 20 years time.
