At One Vision Partnership (OVP), we care about Bulwell and the people who live here. We believe every child and young person deserves a fair chance; from their early years right through to adulthood. That belief sits at the heart of Bulwell Cradle to Career.
This work is about improving education and life chances for children and young people in Bulwell, by bringing people together and doing things differently, together.
Why Cradle to Career?
We know that how children do at school isn’t just about what happens in the classroom. It’s shaped by family life, schools, services, the neighbourhood, and how systems work (or don’t work). Cradle to Career looks at the whole journey of a child’s life and asks a simple but important question:
What can we do, as a community, to make things better and fairer for our children?
Instead of quick fixes or one off projects, we’re focused on changes that last. Working together, properly
You might hear us talk about collective impact. All that really means is people working together around the same goal, rather than doing their own thing in isolation.
In Bulwell, that looks like parents, schools, early years settings, community groups, health services and partners sitting round the same table, sharing learning and backing each other up, building on what’s already here, not starting from scratch.
Why changing systems matters
From talking with families, we know that many challenges don’t come from people doing something wrong, they come from systems that don’t always work as well as they should.
That’s why listening to parents and carers is so important. When parents are supported to share their experiences and speak up, it helps improve how services are designed and delivered. That’s how real change happens.
Our shared priorities
Together, we’re focusing on:
• Parental engagement
• Better working between schools and the community
• Creating opportunities for young people
• Bulwell place making
• Building system leadership capacity
These priorities come from what we hear locally about what matters most for Bulwell’s children and young people.
Get involved
We already have a common agenda guiding this work, and now we want to grow the circle.
If you’re a parent, local organisation, school, service or partner who cares about children and young people in Bulwell, we’d really like to hear from you.
